Society Happenings for October 2008

October Meeting will be held
Thursday October 2nd at 6:30 p.m. Monthly theme is "Water" New Exhibit at Summit Executive Center Building Our new exhibit space is ready and our next exhibit will be on " Entry Ways". Opening reception Field Trip Saturday October 4th Our next field trip will be to Boyd Hill Nature Park in Saint Petersburg. It is time to get ready for the photo contest. The park now opens at 7:am so we are going to be there ready to go at 7. The Deadline for the contest is October 12th.
Yahoo Group for Society Members We now have a members only Yahoo group for members to post images, make comments and talk about photography. You will need to register to become a member of the group. The group is moderated by member Francesca Anthony. Planning on attending a Photographic workshop in 2009 Two local photographers and members of the Society lead International photography tours next year Robin Smillie with Rainbow Photo Tours we have several other members that lead workshops and will add to the list in the next e-mail Protect your rights as a photographerOur rights as photographers is in jeopardy as legislation is coming that would allow people to reproduce your work without you if they can't find you. St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Art Ansel Adams and the American West celebrates the American master Ansel Adams (1902-1984) and his contributions to the progress of photography as an art form. It also honors his activities that helped to preserve the beauty of the American landscape and our national parks. Thirty of the nearly 60 photographs are by Adams, including several large-scale images. Florida Museum of Photographic Art GRACIELA ITURBIDE: The Spirits of the Earth Exhibition Hillsboro Community College Exhibit "Just Suppose: the Images of Jerry Uelsmann & Maggie Taylor" Call the Ybor Campus art gallery at (813) 274-7674 for details. Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; noon to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. The H.C.C. show runs through October 24th. The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts is exhibiting a portion of "Just Suppose: the Images of Jerry Uelsmann & Maggie Taylor" in Gallery C from September 18th through October 24th.
